                                                                    WHAT AMERICA MUST KNOW

More than 1, 700 Haitians came and fought alongside the General GEORGE WASHINGTON during the WAR OF THE INDEPENDENCE of the UNITED STATES OF AMERICA. The Count Charles Hector of Estaing with his fleet came to St.Domingue asking the French colons for help IN 1773 during the colonization by the French. The French COLONS have rather consented to send those BRAVE FREE SLAVES (" THE AFFRANCHIS") to SAVANNAH, GA. with the Count Charles Hector of Estaing. They fought with honor and protected George Washington's Army Retreat and saved their lives during the Revolutionary War. After the Independence in 1779-1780 most of the Haitians (St. Dominguois) returned home among them the future King of Haiti HENRY CHRISTOPHE.
